Bad Boys & Babyfaces

I've had a few ups and downs working on my current writing project - the second instalment in the Brother Tigers MC series, set in the world of professional wrestling. It's been a while since I posted anything here because I've been working hard on getting my main characters - Medea James and Thor Calloway - just right.

These two have been knocking around in my head for years, since long before the idea for the MC series was dreamt up. I *love* pro wrestling and when the Tigers came along, it seemed like Medea and her story would be a perfect fit and voila, "Heaven or Heel" (working title) was born.

I have fond childhood memories of spending time with my father and brother, sometimes my sister too, watching wrestling on TV on a Saturday afternoon. It was precious family time, rare that everyone had chance to stop and relax and even rarer that we could all agree on something to watch!

I still remember the day we were lucky enough to have some national TV stars make a hall near us one of the spots on their tour. I still remember the excitement when at one point, Rollerball Rocco threw his opponent right out of the ring and they landed on the people one row in front of us!

(not the match I watched live and in person but that's Rollerball Rocco, in the unitard)

I think that probably started my fascination with the bad guys of the wrestling ring over the good guys (a.k.a. the "heels" and the "babyfaces"), they were always had a lot more to say for themselves.

Against the competitive sport, professional wrestling has always suffered from a poor reputation, choosing sensationalism and high drama over true sporting ability but I think that's why I love it so much.

Admittedly, the theatrics have only grown over the years

but anybody who can train to that level of fitness and deliver an entertaining skit has earned my respect.

It was probably inevitable that one day my interest in professional wrestling would collide with my passion for writing, so I'll keep on working on 'Heaven or Heel' and watching my wrestling shows, all in the name of research!

Best wishes, Tabitha xx
